Human Rights International (HRI)-Italy, humanitarian organization with the
mission to promote and defend the human rights, appeal to the Iranian
authorities to release immediately NASRIN SOTOUDEH.
On Saturday 29th of August 2010, security forces entered her office and her home at the same time, raided her personal files and belongings and handed her a notice of attending a court hearing, based in the notorious Evin prison. Hence Nasrin Sotoudeh attended the court hearing with her lawyer Nasim Ghanvi, which elaborated that, when in the court, Nasim Ghanvi was not allowed to represent her client and was also told that she was not allowed to remain during questioning. On Sonnday the 5th of September, Iranian
authorities informed Nasim Ghanvi that Nasrin Sotoudeh was arrested.
We appeal to the Iranian Government to release NASRIN SOTOUDEH immediately. We invite also all human rights organizations, national and international authorities to support Nasrin Sotoudeh and all human rights defenders that daily are fighting to defend the human rights in Iran, where the authorities infringe these rights, sanctioned in the Universal Declaration of 1948.
Nasrin Sotoudeh (Iran - 1963), after having completed her law studies in Tehran, devoted herself to the profession of lawyer. She got also famous for her defence of indigent minors, who were sentenced to death. She also supported the women who were involved in the signature campaign "One Million Signatures Campaign" against Iran's discriminatory laws against women and in particular she supported courageously other human rights defenders.
On december 2008 Nasrin Sotoudeh was premiated in Italy from Human Rights
